Private consultation

Hamilton Souther

Private counsel for people carrying it alone.

Since 2002, more than fifteen thousand people have come to him with something they could not get past. Founders and executives, mostly. Also people dealing with things that have nothing to do with work.

The work

What a consultation is

A consultation is a private conversation with Hamilton Souther. It happens by scheduled video or phone call, and it stays between the two of you.

You bring whatever you have not been able to get past. A decision you keep putting off. Something about yourself you can see clearly and still have not changed. A question that does not really fit anywhere else. You get a straight conversation about it, for as long as you want to keep having it.

Every consultation is arranged and paid for on its own. Some people come once. Others keep coming back for months. There is nothing to sign up for and no package to buy.

Where people start

What people bring

Most people come in through one of these and find the other two were part of it all along. It is one conversation, not three services, and it goes where it needs to go.

Personal well-being

How you are sleeping. What you are carrying around. The habits you have been defending for years. This is not treatment and it is not a diagnosis. It is an honest look at how you are actually living, with someone who will not be shocked by any of it.

Spiritual counsel

Meaning, death, purpose, the questions that show up at three in the morning. Two decades of working with people through exactly this. The point is not to hand you a belief. It is to help you find ground you can stand on yourself.

Business & entrepreneurship

The raise. The co-founder problem. The exit. The thing you have not told your board. Founders make their hardest calls alone and usually in a rush. This is somewhere to think out loud with someone who has no stake in which way you go.

Getting started

How it works

  1. Write

Send an email. A paragraph is plenty. Say what is going on and what you would like to be different.

  2. Agree the work

A short exchange to see whether this is a fit and what it would involve. You get the scope and the fee in writing before you pay anything.

  3. Begin

Scheduled calls, as many or as few as you need. You are not committing to anything up front.

Fit

Who this is for

It is for

  • Founders, executives, and anyone whose decisions land on other people.
  • People in the middle of a change, or people who know one is overdue.
  • People who would rather be talked to straight than handled.

It is not for

  • Someone who wants to stay stuck, keep struggling, stay in pain, and deny their own logic and reason.
  • Someone looking to be agreed with. That is an expensive way to feel validated.
  • Anyone who needs medical or psychiatric care. This is not that, and it is not a substitute for it.
